A Fourth Generation Business
Arriving from Italy in the early 1900's, both sets of my grandparents came to the United States in hopes of finding a place to raise their families and were inspired to pursue what so many come to the United States for: the American Dream.
Soon after arriving, my grandparents went to work trying to make that dream a reality. The Fabiano grandparents opened a small grocery store in Lansing and the Spagnuolo grandparents opened one in Mt. Pleasant.
After returning from Europe following World War II, my father, John Fabiano, and my mother, Mary, joined in business with his brother, Frank, at the corner of Willow Street and Knollwood Avenue in Lansing. This business was known as Fabiano's Market.
In 1979, my wife Cindy and I branched out and bought our very first business. This was located in beautiful downtown Portland, formerly known as Jean's Restaurant and Lounge. Due to the overwhelming support of the local people, Cindy and I were able to expand our business.
My grandparents and parents taught me, my brother, and sister invaluable lessons about how the customer always comes first and how providing, friendly, and prompt service to those in the community is of the utmost importance. I am proud of all our employees for continuing to embrace the tradition instilled in my family so long ago, to give pleasant and swift service to all of you with a smile!
As a fourth generation local business, the Fabiano family has supported the Portland community for over 35 years and is excited to open this new business in downtown Portland. As we continue to grow and the fourth generation begins to take over the family business, we are proud that our nephew, Bill Fabiano, and his wife Rachelle, have joined us to manage and own Fabiano's River House Bar & Grill.
With the current count of 11 grandchildren, we hope to bring you friendly service for another 100 years.
